• 2023-24 Updates to League Rules

Posted by Jack Nisbet on 12 August 2023

We have received the updated league regulations for the 2023/24 season along with a document noting the changes.

These can be found on the regulations and supporting documents page found here:
    https://east.englandhockey.co.uk/adult-leagues-competitions/regulations-supporting-documents

Do please read them, particularly the examples of fair selection in appendix 4 as thats where most of the problems occur.

The Adult League Management Committee (ALMC) will read through and add any supplementary notes on the interpretation or default position where it says "ALMC discretion" prior to the start of the season.

As always, any queries please ask you league managers, which we will be allocating shortly, though please be aware they only got them today as well.

  • Match Report - Mens 1 vs Bourne Deeping 2 - 18th Feb

Posted by Jack Nisbet on 25 February 2023

On Saturday, March Town Men's 1st XI played against Bourne Deeping 2 at Stamford. Although March had previously won against Bourne Deeping, the latter team fielded a strong side this time around. Vice-Captain Ross Ambler led the March team, which initially started slowly due to Bourne Deeping 2's ability to block most avenues.

However, the March defense, marshalled at the back by Jacob Fraser and assisted by Dan Robb, Barry Sidgewick, and Mark Saunders, held firm. In the first half, March managed to secure a 2-0 lead with goals from Ross Ambler and Matt Murphy. Jody Betts then scored the final goal in the second half, resulting in a 3-0 win for March.

Next week, March will travel to play against their local rivals, Wisbech Town. Currently, March has won 14 out of their 16 games this season, with only two draws, both of which were against the second-ranked team in the league, St Neots. As a result, March is 8 points clear at the top of the league, having scored 106 goals and conceded only 11.
